Right next door to the Italian restaurant, Volterra’s Drawing Room (5407 Ballard Ave. N.W.) acts as a private event space, holding up to 100 people depending on how you want to celebrate. For Saturday’s Reverb lineup here, expect hip-swinging and toe-tapping from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. when the space will swank out with jazz and rumba courtesy of jazz singer and teacher Greta Matassa, followed by jazz drummer Matt Jorgensen and the 451, then Leif Totusek’s band Freestyle Candela, which plays Cuban-style rumba and soukous. Come 9:00 p.m., the space will switch to poppy, dancy cocktail music with Lushy and then finish with Mexi-country Tejano band Los Volcanes. Volterra will offer a limited selection of drink (it being a catering facility), but be sure to take advantage of any specialty cocktails if they have them. All are designed with friend and neighbor Kathy Casey and usually have an herbal, savory bent.
