Photo by Allegra Waggener”Scott always made me laugh,” said Allegra Waggener, Simpson’s partner in business and in life, and the Lunchbox Laboratory’s sassy front-of-the-house fixture. The beloved burger master (and so much more) is gone, but he’s not going to be forgotten. A little more than a week after 38-year-old Scott Simpson died, the loving tributes keep coming. Grab a hankie and read Matthew Amster-Burton’s moving goodbye to his friend. On Sunday, Simpson’s adoring fans will have a chance to pay their respects and celebrate his life. The memorial begins at 4 p.m. at the new Lunchbox Laboratory’s location, 1253 Thomas St. Everyone’s welcome. Another sad chapter of this tragic tale is still being played out. Scott’s partner in business and in life, Allegra Waggener, no longer has a job at the Lab, and that’s a damn shame. Allegra was the sassy, sometimes brassy fixture at the Lunchbox Laboratory from the moment the first burger hit the grill. She was the face of the place, while Scott put his heart and soul into the incredible stuff that came out of an impossibly tiny kitchen. They were a great team.Allegra’s now not just heartbroken, but broke. If anybody wants to hire the fabulous Ms. W., I’ll be glad to help put you in touch. Follow Voracious on Twitter and Facebook.
