Our tribute to the holiday services provided by Seattle’s Best Dive Bars continues with the Old 5th Avenue Tavern (8507 5th Ave NE). The most successful dive bars appeal to the old dogs without excluding a younger crowd. In the Seely family, the Old 5th Avenue Tavern gets a gold star in this area, primarily do to Taco Tuesdays. That’s when the small space packs them in for $1 tacos, the way mom probably used to make (involving the crock pot and crunchy shells). No need to say more, you’re either from the Maple Leaf neighborhood and indoctrinated, or completely missing out.
