On Friday night the Upper Crust Caterers will be holding a benefit for the businesses burned by the Greenwood Arsonist. There will be food, wine tasting, a silent auction, a raffle and the works all for a silly cheap price of $5 a ticket (although additional donations are gladly accepted). The even runs from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday night at 85th and Greenwood Ave. North. To donate, or for questions, email greenwoodfireauction@gmail.com.Ballard’s Mike’s Chili Parlor and Wallingford’s Voula’s Offshore Cafe both got another boost from the Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives show when host Guy Fieri brought his moveable feast back to Seattle for a reunion with two of his popular local greasy spoons. The original shows, both owners say, brought huge increases in business. In other words, the new attention was welcome. Also to Ballard comes popular veggie Thai place Jahanjay Vegetarian Thai. The new storefront will be on the 5300 block of Vallard and and should be open before the new year.
