The sushi bar two floors down from Seattle Weekly‘s office has really come into its own, and it shows during happy hour (daily, 4 to 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. to close). For $4 apiece, you can choose from a (literally) colorful array of Asian-ized cocktails, including a light, sweet lychee martini and a nicely tart mojito made with the Japanese herb shiso, which tastes like a cross between basil and mint. Not interested in fruity drinks? Draft beers are $3 a pint. What really knocks this happy hour out of the park, though, is the food. Five- or six-piece sushi rolls are a remarkable $2.95 per, which means you can eat a generous helping of sushi for half the usual price. The spicy tuna is a standout; you can also order individual pieces, like crab or shrimp, for $1 each. Not into sushi? You’re still OK: A healthy portion of gyoza (fried pork dumplings), fried calamari with garlic-wasabi aioli (just rings, no tentacles), and several other hot apps are also $2.95, and a small- but-still-sharable plate of edamame costs a buck. While you’re chowing down and drinking up, take a moment to appreciate the hip music (recently, Massive Attack), the sexy lighting, and the mysterious geode sparkling in the middle of it all. 83 Spring St., 206-340-8880.
