The debut of sweet, colorful raspberries at local farmers markets was slightly delayed by the weekend’s rain, but expect them to make an appearance this week when the weather is less soggy. This season’s Chelan cherries are already a colossal hit at every market, especially in the University District, where they drew crowds and sold out in less than an hour. Lovers of peas will be pleased with every sweet bite of the newly available veggie. And to begin your meal tonight, create a locally produced salad with fresh tomatoes (varieties include Beefsteak, Green, Heirloom, Sungold, and Roma), Icicle or Shuhkyo radishes, and assorted varieties of cucumbers, greens, and onions.
