Fresh, ripe raspberries have arrived at the Seattle farmers markets, joining juicy Chelan and Bing cherries and scarlet strawberries. Clearly, red-hued fruit is taking over the city. Other new arrivals to the markets this week include zucchini (earlier than expected) and green beans (always a refreshing summer snack). For those craving more than just veggies this summer—and for those with visions of summer barbecues—don’t forget about the fresh meat also available at many local markets. Organic pork from the Kent Valley is already appearing, as are free-run chickens and organic, pasture-raised beef from Skagit River Ranch. HEATHER LOGUE
