Just because it snowed Sunday doesn’t mean that area farmers’ markets are over: Both the U District and West Seattle markets run through the weekend before Thanksgiving, and both fall fruits and vegetables are available in wondrous variety. Pears are in their glory, as are mushrooms, turnips, parsnips, squash (they just get sweeter with every cold snap), and potatoes in all the colors of the rainbow. Look for whole salmon, too, and oysters in the shell. And you can anticipate the season in traditional fashion with harvest wreaths.
