Live music, eats, and dulces for trick-or-treaters are part of Dia de Muertos parties at La Carta de Oaxaca in Ballard and Mezcaleria Oaxaca in Queen Anne on Halloween. Mezcaleria Oaxaca’s second location on Pine and Summit in Capitol Hill is scheduled to open in early 2014.

In sadder-than-sad news, Capitol Hill’s North Hill Bakery is shuttering. As owner Margaret Rumpeltes posted via Facebook: “Good Bye North Hill! Landlord kicked us out. We have loved serving the Capitol Hill neighborhood, you have all made work a kick to come to every day.”

The Ballard Bridge Cafe opened in the former Counter space around the corner from Top Pot and Trader Joe’s in the Ballard Blocks building. The breakfast/lunch spot will serve standards: scrambles and French toast in the morning, burgers and fish and chips in the afternoon. Hours are 6 a.m.–3 p.m. Monday–Saturday and 7 a.m.–3 p.m. Sunday.

Frank’s Oyster House & Champagne Parlor is throwing a Bubbles & Bivalves all-you-can-eat oyster party on Nov. 10 in honor of its upcoming fifth birthday. $45 per person includes two drink tickets. Reserve a spot online (franksoysterhouse.com) or by calling the restaurant at 214-6518.

Shanik’s new market is now open next door to its South Lake Union dining room. The sibling eatery of Vij’s in Vancouver will sell grab-and-go hot meals, like curried chickpeas and rice, alongside packaged meals and mango lassis at a takeaway counter. Market hours are 11:30 a.m.–7 p.m. Monday–Friday.
