It’s my fault because I double booked. But, in my defense, one thing bugs me to no end about press events (which is why I rarely attend), no one ever shows up on time. It was brunch, what, did everyone expect there would be a cocktail hour? There is no such thing as being fashionably late to a WORK event, but this happens always. In the words of Olbermann circa Sportcenter, “Those who are late: don’t get fruit cup!” Or shouldn’t.On the flip side, PR people: When you hold everything for those who don’t bother to show up on time, it is unkind to us punctual people. You are in effect saying the people who aren’t present are more important than those sitting in front of you. Think about it. That being said, I have had some quite intriguing meals at Olivar and look forward to partaking in the prix-fixe brunch soon. $15 gets you an ensaimada (pictured above), entree, coffee, and the sweetest, pulpiest fresh squeezed orange juice ever. Olivar, 806 E. Roy St., brunch Saturday and Sunday, 10:00am to 2:00pm.
