In its previous life, Kelly’s cartoon mug made a cameo in “The Jetsons.”Starting tomorrow, you’ll notice a change in the Grillaxin’ byline: Former P-I restaurant critic will take the chef-interviewing baton from longtime contributor Adriana Grant, starting with a three-part column on the woman responsible for Salumi’s soups.Since the P-I’s print edition folded last March, Kelly has been working in kitchens around Seattle and chronicling her journey from Critic to Cook for the James Beard award-winning Web site, Serious Eats. She also is a regular contributor to Amazon’s food blog, Al Dente, and pens a personal blog, where she’s recently been obsessing about eggs. When she’s not cooking or eating, she’s thinking about cooking and eating.Rose Tosti, a Portland (Ore.)-bred grad student currently working toward a master’s in UW’s School of Music, joins us as our new coffee columnist as well. Her column, Spilling the Beans, which appears first thing every Monday morning (fitting, right?) has already been discovered by many Voracious faithful. When we discovered Tosti’s personal blog, we had to have her. She works in the coffee industry, drinks roughly 11 cups per day, and writes with the amount of energy you’d expect from someone who downs that much caffeine. Her level of obsession with her area of focus is, in my opinion, rivaled only by the Karaoke Korrespondent over on our Reverb blog. And in the blogosphere, obsession will get you far.
