Happy Hour!

BANDOL One of our foxiest friends recently told us that she’d be requesting Bandol the next time a gentleman came calling. Impeccable taste has our friend; we found that even at happy hour this is a delicious destination. Located at the bottom of the Smith Tower, Bandol is classy yet remarkably unpretentious and affordable as well. From 3 to 6 p.m. the menu offers just under a dozen delicious options, all for five bucks or less. The petit croque monsieur, a steal at $4, is a wonderful de-bastardization of our less cultured society’s Monte Cristo sandwich and for the same price, the frites (that’d be fries to you, homeboy) are available plain or with chunks of Bandol’s house-cured bacon as an irresistible addition. Mixed well drinks are $4, beer on tap is $3, and each night the bartender discounts both a French red and white wine from the by-the-glass list. Do remember Bandol next time your gentlemanor gentleladycomes calling. 508 Second Ave., 206-447-0222. DOWNTOWN/PIONEER SQUARE
