Fiddlers Inn

If you feel right at home at this laid-back Wedgwood neighborhood pub, no wonder: It’s a converted home covered with wood thatch, with worn wood tables giving it that olde-towne feeling. Benches resembling church pews line the walls, so a solitary reader or writer can easily find a private spot. It’s not odd to see families enjoying a meal in a corner, and, for all you fans of breathing, there’s no smoking except on the patio. At happy hour (4 to 6 p.m.), beer snobs will rejoice at the locally crafted selections: At $3 a pint, $2.50 a schooner, or $8 a pitcher you can enjoy a Baron Lager (a German-style lager with a light taste and a hearty body) brewed in South Seattle. Also good is Golden Lizard ale, with a full sweet taste to it. The list goes on: Wild Cat, Alaskan, Snoqualmie, or Big Time Bagwhans IPA, Elysian Porter, Rouge Nitro Stout, or Port Townsend Hop Diggity are just a sampling. PBR only by special request. There are no happy-hour deals on food, but that shouldn’t stop you from enjoying something tasty from the kitchen. 9219 35th Ave. N.E., 206-525-0752 WEDGWOOD
