Everyone in Seattle is already in awe of the innovative, flavor-forward food cooked up by Rachel Yang and Seif Chirchi at Joule. (If you go, get the agnolotti with brussel sprouts and fermented black beans. Do not ask questions, just do it.) After this Sunday, January 17, the rest of the world will be in awe too. This Sunday marks the premiere of the Iron Chef America episode where Yang and Chirchi do battle with newly appointed Iron Chef Jose Garces, and they’re throwing a party to celebrate. Joule’s been hosting a series of Winter Suppers every Sunday night, and while this Sunday’s dinner (five courses of kimchi!) is long sold out, Yang and Chirchi have rented out Murphy’s Pub, aka the bar across the street, for the viewing party. “We had so many people interested in coming, we just decided to make the whole place ours,” says Chirchi. “It’s gonna be hot. There’ll be live music, and we’ll have some canapes too.” The party starts at 7:30 pm, with the episode airing at 9 pm. “It’ll be so fun,” says Yang, whose parents will be in town from Korea, along with other relatives, and some of Chirchi’s childhood friends. “We haven’t had this many friends and family in town since our wedding.”
