Chantal AndersonFind it at: 1205 East Pike Street Hours: Around 10:30 a.m. to midnight, opens at 5 p.m. tonightWhat makes this place unique: Free wifi, homemade ice cream, (if that is considered uncommon in Seattle anymore…) and a performance area for musicians and authorsTry: Peanut butter, and Stumptown Coffee flavors The Capitol Hill Blog has more here. With all these new ice cream shops opening up, I can’t help but wonder what will happen during the cold, dark winter months ahead. Is the ice cream industry recession-proof and winter-proof? I recently wrote a story about how more people are selling ice cream by the truck this summer, but sales have plummeted, regardless. I guess that is where tea comes in for Bluebird. I wouldn’t mind getting cozy with some tea there this winter, mostly because they did such a fantastic job of designing the place. It’s vintage and chic with hardwood floors and wispy bird art lining the walls.
