From 5 to 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. to close every weekday, you can have yourself a miserly little happy hour at Buenos Aires on nothing but potent house martinis, beer, and wine ($2.95/glass). Sadly, all you’ll have to accompany your drinks is the mesmerizing sound of tango music—nothing else on the regular menu is discounted. Moving south down the carte only leads to extravagance: full-priced specialty cocktails—including a caipirinha ($7) that’s light on the lime, heavy on the rum—and supper-sized plates of meat, seafood, or sweet-corn empanadas. If you do crave something to soak up all that rum in your belly, consider the frito misto ($10), a light-as-air fish fry that features some of the best calamari you’ll taste in this town. 2000 Second Ave., 206-441-7076.
