Blame it on my years spent as a broke college student nibbling on Hot Pockets and Dinty Moore beef stew. My survival instinct still kicks in when I hear the words “free” and “food” in the same sentence. And so, naturally, my eyes widened and my pulse quickened when Vermillion (1508 11th Ave.) announced it will provide patrons with a free spread of wings, nachos, meatballs, and sloppy Joes during this Sunday’s Super Bowl. What’s the catch? Nothing, really. The Capitol Hill establishment’s owner Diana Adams says all you have to do is buy one beverage (one measly drink!) and then the buffet table is yours to conquer. Huzzah! Here’s where I’m going to turn very briefly into a wet towel. You should keep in mind that Vermillion is a a hybrid wine bar and art gallery. If you plan on crushing beer cans on your forehead and screaming profanities at the television screen during the game, you should probably stick to watching it at your buddy’s house. But if that sounds nothing like you … well, go and get your grub on!
