Beginning April 5th, Rover’s (2808 E. Madison St.) will open for brunch every Sunday; so get on the horn now if you want a table for Easter on the 12th or Mama’s Day on May 10th. “We’re still tooling around with the menu, probably a two-course and a three-course. I want it to feel special but still accessible.” Special=White table cloths will remain on the tables. Accessible=Well, one of their famous dishes involves a slow cooked egg; imagine what the kitchen will do with an omelet. Rover’s will also add a Sunday supper, serving until 8 or 9pm, more details very soon…Also new to the restaurant is the nightly $45 bistro menu, featuring a double appetizer–one a more salad oriented option–followed by a choice of entree and dessert. You may start with a country style pate, served with frisee and egg; it’s Rover’s, so mentioning that the pate is made in house just seems ridiculous. Restaurants like Rover’s don’t need to advertise the fact that they have two refrigerators stuffed with house-cured meats, and right now an entire leg of pork curing. Mmmmm…jambon. C’est normal. You can see a full menu HERE, subject to change and seasonality.
