Beer School at the Pub at Pipers Creek: On Tuesday May 12th, learn beer basics from two of Seattle Beer Week’s organizers–Mike Baker, former owner of Baron Brewing and now owner of Pacific Beverage, and Matt Younts, specialty beer manager for Click Imports. The Pub at Piper’s Creek is probably one of the better kept secrets in Seattle, aces for a comfortable unpretentious place to drink harder to find brew. On this night, the pair will feature beers from Everett’s Lazy Boy Brewing and Pennsylvania’s Victory Brewing. Your $25.00 covers food, beer samples and a degree with your name on it. Assuming you pass. To enroll, call 417-5734. (10527 Greenwood Ave N., 7:00pm)Pike Brewing has bottled the official brew of Seattle Beer Week, a double IPA now available in 22 ounce bottles (check your local beer shop for availability). The beer clocks in at 8.0% alcohol and has an amazing mouth feel–you can feel the gravity–preceded by a fruity and complex aroma and punctuated with a looooong finish. This is an IPA even I could like.
