Baby Veggies

‘Tis the season for eating babiesveggie babies, that is: tiny, sweet baby turnips, baby beets in rainbow colors, sweet radishes, baby bok choi, baby pea pods, shoots, and vines. Look for tiny artichokes, so tender and small you can eat ’em whole. Get fresh, tender fava beans while you can. Rhubarb is running wild, while local berries are shyly creeping in: raspberries from Whatcom County, Chelan cherries from the Tri-Cities, strawberries from Tonasket. Whistling Train Farm is offering its beyond-organic pork from the traditional English Berkshire breed at Pike Place Tuesdays and Fridays, at the U District market on Saturdays, and the West Seattle market on Sundays.
