Australia’s Lucky Drink Company accused Seattle newbie Laughing Buddha of trademark infringement, and as a result the SMALL, TWO-MAN operation out of South Park will change its name to Trade Route Brewing Company as of April 1st. I guess the Australian company had an issue with the LB’s Buddha label; they considered it too similar to their Lucky Buddha beer and Buddha shaped bottle.Whatevs, never heard of them. No, actually kinda effed up–that someone thinks they have a stranglehold on the image of Buddha. I’m digesting that. It’s bitter. The thing about these lawsuits (just ask Stella over at Stella”R” Pizza) is that you have to settle, unless you have wads of cash to fight it. Stick it to the man by buying a 22-ouncer of the Luaghing Buddha’s most excellent Ginger Pale Ale, or better yet:Go enjoy beer floats this Sunday, March 1st at Full Tilt Ice Cream in White Center (9629 16th Avenue SW), made with a limited addition Laughing Buddha lychee ale.
