Athena’s is up and running in the Highland Park neighborhood!

It’s a big week for West Seattle. Mediterranean food truck Athena’s has opened a permanent restaurant at 1513 S.W. Holden St. In addition to the falafel, gyros, and souvlaki offered in the mobile location, the menu here includes Greek-influenced burgers, gelato, and beer. Owner Nick Parisi wants Athena’s to become a convenient dining destination for families. “There aren’t a lot of places that you can walk to and grab a bite to eat in the Highland Park neighborhood,” he says. “We wanted to create a place where parents can grab a beer while their kids have some gelato.” In other news, West Seattle also scored two new food trucks: Lucky Devil Doughnut and La Playita.

On Beacon Hill, Luisa Taqueria is now open at 2505 Beacon Hill Ave. Run by the folks behind Inay’s, the establishment features Filipino- Mexican fusion cuisine — think pork adobo tacos.

In Fremont, Hunger serves its final dinner this Saturday. But fans needn’t worry. The restaurant will relaunch in the former Dad Watson’s location at 3601 Fremont Ave N. — which is about three times larger — by month’s end.

Lastly, over on the Eastside, Ballard- based Italian restaurant Volterra is opening a second location at 121 Kirkland Ave.
