After shutting down this past March, the classic Greenwood watering hole regulars lovingly refer to as “The Pig” is scheduled to re-open tomorrow.Vuong Loc, the chef behind Queen Anne’s tiny French brasserie, Portage, has taken over the space. He’s hoping his new incarnation of food and interior will keep the locals happy while drawing in a new crowd.Vuong says Pig ‘N Whistle will open for lunch, dinner and happy hour…and weekend brunches starting mid-August. There will still be stiff drinks and microbrews to be had, but the menu will look slightly different. The revived version will offer all-natural beef burgers ($5.50), crunchy pig ears with spicy mustard ($$4.50), duck fat fries with smoked tomato jam ($5.50) and a bulgar wheat, white bean and seasonal veggie fontina cheese burger ($9.95).Chef Loc promises the place will still be a comfy hangout.
