Aaron Roberts' family released this autopsy photo to bolster their claim of a police beating.[WHY WE RAN THIS PHOTO:Running a picture of a dead man is not something to be undertaken lightly. The family of Aaron Roberts, through their lawyer, provided us with the autopsy photo of their loved one and asked us to publish it. They believe it bolsters their claim that Roberts was beaten by the police. Roberts' tragic death has been the source of much protest and debate throughout Seattle. Much of the case revolves around what occurred that night in the Central District. Since it happened, we have published many articles on the shooting (which you may find on this Web site). However, since very few people witnessed the shooting or the events leading up to the shooting, much of what happened that night remains a mystery. The autopsy photo provides one concrete visual record that the public can view and judge for themselves. It is in this spirit that we published the photo. We appreciate you letting us know what you think about our decision. The Editors]
