Telepathe, Wednesday, June 10: BFFaE™s Busy Gangnes and Melissa Livaudais, aka Telepathe, slip heavy narcotics into their electro pop concoctions, but take care to sip slowly, so that they donaE™t, say, spill the ambience all over the guitars. Their stuff goes down smooth but leaves you woozy. The Brooklyn duoaE™s video for aEœSo Fine,aE off their full-length Dance Mother, features the girls bobbing along amid a subdued sea of dancers, the perfect visual complement to a track lifted by the sirenaE™s-call vocals but grounded by machine-beat time-keeping. (Bonus: thereaE™s a Diplo remix.) ThereaE™s a darkness to their buoyancy that has faint echoes of The KnifeaE™s medieval brooding. But Telepathe is definitely having a lot more fun, even if they donaE™t show off. aEœLights Go DownaE has an improvisational quality, with the marching drums doing battle with the swirling voices and sound effects, as if Ganges and Livaudais couldnaE™t determine which would dominate. Not that they need to: ThataE™s what their narcotic reverie is all about. With Nite Jewel, Joey Casio. Chop Suey, 1325 E. Madison St. 324-8000. 8 p.m. $8 adv., $10 dos. Note by KEVIN CAPP

[Thursday, October 30] With all apologies to Velvet Revolver and, uh, Damn Yankees, hereaE™s a rock supergroup you can really get excited about. Magnetic Morning includes singer-guitarist Adam Franklin (Swervedriver), drummer Sam Fogarino (Interpol), and multi-instrumentalist Jimmy LaValle (The Album Leaf, Tristeza). At times, Magnetic Morning unleashes the blurry, cinemascopic guitar fury of Swervedriver, but thereaE™s just as much reliance on bright, psych-poppy melodies and delicate atmospherics. With Drew Andrews, Black Nite Crash. Chop Suey, 1325 E. Madison St., 324-8000. 8 p.m., $10. Listen to At A Crossroads, Passive.

Dysfunction, Not Gays, Is a Threat to Marriage: This Prop 8 issue is another example of the recent method of 'Might Makes Right' politics in America. Foisted, this time, by the straight and intolerant SOB's in and around California. This is, of course, due to the over emphasis on the idea of 'Democracy' and the under emphasis on the broader, less bumper sticker friendly concept of our system of government which was designed to be a Constitutional Democracy (Or Constitutional Republic). A simple mob rule democracy is when two wolves and one sheep vote on what is for dinner, to paraphrase Ben Franklin. - Submitted by Scott Lindsley
