Yo La Tengo

Putting an intimate spin on their latest album

With over 15 records and nearly a quarter century (23 years!) together, it’s no wonder Jersey-born indie rockers Yo La Tengo are known for never playing the same set twice. They don’t quite have the underground bootleg library the Dead have, but if they did, tonight’s show would surely be a hot commodity on the trade circuit. Town Hall is an ideal locale for a special program intended to break the audience/artist barrier with a rare acoustic set (working with last year’s winning I Am Not Afraid of You and I Will Beat Your Ass) and “freewheeling” extras like storytelling (a recent show in Indiana produced anecdotes from the band on everything from naked men to their performance on The Simpsons) and audience requests.
