Among the six million Jews exterminated by the Nazis, the number of artists was relatively small, but the Holocaust still left a powerful hole in postwar Europes cultural life, since it is artists who are sometimes the most potent historians. Choreographer Donald Byrd wants to draw attention to that loss, and to the losses we continue to suffer in places like Rwanda and Darfur, in The Theater of Needless Talents, a cabaret set to music by the Czech Jewish composer Erwin Schulhoff.
