Noelle Walker often has trouble getting galleries to show her artwork because of its explicit focus on transsexuality. In her newest collection, Tacoma Screwd (through Aug. 31), the non-op transsexual artist reflects on her experience going from man to woman, and how others perceive her body. Screwd consists of cartoonish, gender-ambiguous figures that purse their pouty lips and gaze seductively at you. Walker intentionally uses materials that smudgespray paint, pencil, and chalk on cardboard. So, too, the labels smudge and blur, resisting easy gender categorization. Also, the art itself alters over time, much like the human body. Babeland, 707 E. Pike St., 328-2914, www.babeland.com. Free. 11 a.m.10 p.m. ERIKA HOBART
