Friday through Sunday, Haskell Wexlers 1969 tear-gas vérité feature Medium Cool puts Robert Forster (he of Jackie Brown) in the middle of Chicagos Democratic National Convention, where fact, fiction, documentary and a Hollywood love story all collide. On Saturday and Sunday only, Summer 68 is a more straightforward hour-long doc on the convention, which nominated Hubert Humphreythe Dukakis of his dayas the lamb whom Richard Nixon and his silent majority would slaughter that fall. Some vintage TV ads and news segments will be screened with the latter. Yes, children, even without YouTube and the Internet, votes were still cast.
