The local post-punk outfit Stephanie has been on a hiatus of late, during which lead singer Wil Adams took off for the Netherlands and the band for the first time added a drummer, Robert Wolfe. (The lineup is rounded out by Matt Lawson of Secret Colors, Andrew McKibben of M. Women, and Cairo booker Ian Judd). Stephanies since spent the better part of the year getting reacquainted and brushing up their material. Listen to Undercovers and Meds on the quintets MySpace page to get of taste of their revamped sound, composed of gently percolating guitars and bass, Adams elegant, almost operatic quality vocals, and light synth tones (another new addition). The music is romantic is its own subtle and shadowy way. Tonight represents Stephanies return to the live music circuit. With Witch Gardens, Pleasure Beauties. ERIN K. THOMPSON
