In his stage debut and one-man-show nonetheless, Chad Goller-Sojourner shares his story of growing upget ready for itblack, fat, gay, and raised by white parents. (Augusten Burroughs, relinquish your most-unusual-upbringing title.) Whether delivering a detailed account of losing his virginity in the back of a Datsun B210 or the first time a classmate called him a nigger, Goller-Sojourner is both a heartbreaking and hilarious storyteller. Case in point: The former bulimic uses a flow chart to explain his reason for rejoicing when the Soviet Union boycotted the 84 Olympics. (McDonalds gave away free Big Macs each time the U.S. won a gold that summer.) Sitting in Circles is brilliant, but its venue gets awfully stuffy in the heat. Suck it up and go anyway.
