The Space In-Between, which easily could have been renamed Whos Your Daddy?, maintains playwright Kathy Hsiehs tradition of deliciously scandalous plot development, as the damsels of the newest installment in this long-running stage serial again effortlessly flatten the model minority stereotype of chaste, submissive Asian-American women. Against a bright, geometric set and flat-screen backdrop, the plotlinesthe tangled realities and fantasies of a psychic hotline operator (Leilani Berinobis) losing the battle for celibacy, a suddenly pregnant working girl (May Nguyen) dodging her three increasingly suspicious possible baby-daddies, a confused married virgin (Hsieh herself) caught in a love triangle that would do Madame Bovary proud, and a temptress (Miko Premo) unable to get anyresult in gut-wrenchingly hilarious antics that ought to be on prime time.
