With the promise of adding college player of the year Kevin Durant to its roster, Draft Day 2007 was supposed to be one of unbridled celebration for the Seattle Supersonics and its fans. Yet thanks to one unexpected maneuverthe trade of Ray Allen to the Boston Celtics for the rights to Georgetown star Jeff Green, Wally Szczerbiak, and Delonte Westthe extravaganza resulted in as many jeers as cheers. So, hows it worked out for everyone? Well, thanks to Bostons subsequent addition of seven-foot superfreak Kevin Garnett, the Celtics have gone from being one of the leagues worst teams to one of its best. The Sonics, who also parted ways with Rashard Lewis, have gone from being one of the leagues worst teams to being one of the leagues worst teams. Yet thanks to spurts of brilliance by both Durant and Green, both of whom are sure to make the leagues all-rookie team, the future looks considerably brighter in Seattlethat is, if the team stays put.
