Seattle Sound Bite

Saving the world through consumption

It’s hard to pass up an opportunity to make a positive difference in the world by eating. For the benefit of The Vera Project (youth and music), ProStart (youth and food), and the Seattle Chapter of the Washington Restaurant Association, Showbox SoDo is hosting Seattle Sound Bite. Fifteen participating restaurants, including Purple Café and Wine Bar, Quinn’s, Tango, and the Southlake Grill, will be creating “street-style” food available for $5. After gorging yourself (for charity!), have a drink and take in the music by local food service workers. Among the countless part-time-musician/part-time-servers in the city, seven of the best—and most eclectic—were chosen by audition, including Kate Graves, the Ian McFeron Band, and the La Isla Allstars of Picoso. Showbox SoDo, 1700 First Ave. S, myspace.com/seattlesoundbite2008. $15. 21 and over. 6 p.m.-midnight. BRENT ARONOWITZ
