Seattle AIDS Walk

A five kilometer loop begins and ends in Volunteer Park, giving philanthropists/pedestrians a grand tour of Capitol Hill. (Yes, you can also run the course if you prefer.) Lifelong AIDS Alliance organizes the benefit event, with teams and individual raising pledged donations that routinely total in the tens of thousands of dollars. Lifelong AIDS Alliance served over 3,500 people last year, most with incomes less than $20,000 per year. Food, housekeeping services, and education are part of the nonprofit’s outreach efforts. The walk (or run) is generally like a parade, heading south down 12th, turning on Union, then streaming north on Broadway–it’s like a parade, an occasion for cheers, not tears. T. BOND
