Losing your keys when you’re just about to leave for a date might be a

bummer, but not many songwriters would write a song about it. But when

Kazutaka Nomura writes songs about lost keys, chucking tomatoes and

other such everyday stuff, the music somehow takes on a much deeper

meaning than the topical nature of such events would suggest. Nomura,

a classically trained guitarist who moved to Seattle from Japan to

study music composition, defies convention by setting his intricate

fingerstyle concoctions to comical, conversational lyrics. By

themselves, the colloquial monologues are quirky and amusing;

juxtaposed with Nomura’s incredible technical precision, they’re

hilarious. And yet, these simple soliloquies about everyday

tribulations tend to be more honest and profound than a

singer/songwriter who use a thesaurus to obscure their

vulnerabilities. With two concurrent CD release shows to choose from,

there’s no excuse not to go see PWRFL Power and pick up the new
