Performing Joy Divisions seminal debut album, 1979s Unknown Pleasures, without Ian Curtis seems a bit like re-shooting Rebel Without a Cause minus James Dean — Curtis possessed stage presence and booming baritone are just about inimitable, let alone replaceable. But if someones got to do it, it might as well be Joy Divisions founding bassist Peter Hook. Along with his band The Light, Hookys performing the album across the country to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Curtis suicide. Its as good a chance as any to hear Shes Lost Control and Disorder live, cause Curtis sure aint coming back any time soon to do it. ERIN K. THOMPSON
