Most Extreme Improv Ninja Challenge

A weekly serial featuring three disgraced ninja forced to perform improv theater to regain their honor, this is lowbrow but amusing late-night comedy. The ninja compete in a variety of challenges for points, ranging from improvisational singing to acting while walking blindfolded through mousetraps; points are awarded according to audience enthusiasm and carry over week to week. The competition’s musical element leads to gems like last weekend’s “Shut the F*** Up, Thomas.” Each scene’s success varies almost as much as its topic, but the blame may lie with the belligerent university crowd—heckling and the sound of bottles rolling across the floor often accompany the performance’s lapses into crude yelling. Despite the uninhibited patronage and relative vulgarity, this show frequently made me laugh. Master Li and Green Ninja deserve particular praise for their grace under fire. A great spot to hit after a pub crawl. VIRGINIA ZECH Saturdays at midnight:30 (i.e. Sunday morning). Extended through Nov. 15.
