Manu Chao

International sensation Manu Chao writes (and sings) in more languages than people have fingers, but the reason his music translates so well to audiences worldwide has little to do with the lyrics. His sound is a veritable melting pot of Spanish guitar, Algerian rai, salsa, reggae, French chanson, punk rock and a smorgasbord of other sonic influences Chao’s picked up throughout the course of a life drifting around the globe. And even if you can’t understand what he’s saying, it doesn’t really matter, because Chao speaks a universal language: stoner. SARA BRICKNER
