Success doesnt happen overnight, as proven by the career of Louis C.K. On his résumé are 20 years of stand-up, a cult Blaxploitation spoof (2001s Pootie Tang), and a short-lived HBO series. But it was precisely the cancellation of Lucky Louie that enabled the unflinchingly honest comic to distill his stage act into a jaw-dropping three hours of dark n dirty material. He continues to do what he does best: grab the mic, open his mouth, and let his formidable unfiltered mind do the rest. JULIE SEABAUGH
