Mike Daisey has won much praise for his monologues and toured the world as a solo performer, while Lesley Hazelton and Randall Kenans books of non-fiction have been met with critical acclaim. This week, all three writers will forfeit the comfort of professional editing and proofreading to perform as part of the new Literary Series at Hugo House, each of which will highlight a triumvirate of pieces exploring a central theme. The series debut, Lost in Translation, will feature their original works in progressuncensored, unedited, and unpublished. In exposing the writing process to the public ear, Hugo House seeks to catalyze the maturation of both the works being read and of listeners perceptions of literary evolution. Though it is impossible to predict the outcome of such an experiment, it is by its nature a rare invitation. The readings (with live music by Devin Sullivan) are Friday, with classes, discussion, and more on Saturday.
