Kim Sciarrone

The show “Memory” couples the white-on-white sculpture of Yun Hong Chang with the photos of Kim Sciarrone, also Seattle-based. Much of the latter’s work appears to have been taken at night, under harsh streetlights that reveal forlorn old buildings and empty streets. Skies are orange and brick walls peeling. The rectilinear grid of the city is repeated everywhere: windows, masonry, squat square industrial buildings, the empty brackets for old signs long since removed. People and plants are mostly absent; a few topiary bushes are almost a shock. There’s hardly a contour or rounded surface to be seen. The closest suggestion of a human hand are a few old parked cars, left unlocked and unloved in the alley. (For more images, visit kimsciarrone.com.) BRIAN MILLER
