In what could be described as a momentary lapse in judgment, I typed www.hellopenis.com into the Web browser at my office. The on-screen result, visible to at least three co-workers, was a penis cartoon character grinning widely and waving at me. I closed the window hastily, as it wasnt the penis I was looking for, Joseph Baker and Kevin Pooles Hello Penis: A Man-ifesto. Their two-man show delves further into sexual and gender politics than does that Web sites blogs about random peoples sexual endeavors (okay, maybe I didnt close the window right away). Through monologues, dialogues, and puppets, Baker and Poole combat stereotypes and explore what it means to be a man in contemporary society. Sounds sort of familiar, but both guys insist Hello Penis isnt a response to Eve Enslers The Vagina Monologues. Whether its a play off Enslers work or not, heres another chance to see people talk publicly about privates.
