Greg Brown

Greg Brown’s voice is practically a tactile experience as much as an aural one: It’s faded denim, it’s a bearskin rug, it’s your favorite sweatshirt fresh and warm from the dryer. It has a nap. This Iowa-born and -based singer/guitarist, a Prairie Home Companion regular back in the ’80s, is also a prolific songwriter, with a couple dozen albums (some Grammy-nominated) to his credit. I’m not sure the clean, bright acoustic box that is Benaroya Recital Hall will be exactly right for him, but probably the confessional intimacy he brings to his performances will create the right atmosphere and draw everyone closer. Maybe they could bring in some neon beer signs and a peanut barrel or two, just for one night? Benaroya Recital Hall, Third Ave. & Union St., 292-2787, www.ticketmaster.com. $35. 8 p.m. GAVIN BORCHERT
