This New Years, I went to a Golden Age-themed party, which to some meant wearing little else than gold body paint, to others, dressing up like Bette Davis, and to others stilljudging by the condition of the house at 3 a.m.ingesting massive amounts of Goldschläger. So while shiny things captivate kids of all ages, this morning’s Go Gold art party at SAM is for the kind that hit the sack before 10 p.m. The museum, and the Seattle Asian Art Museum in Volunteer Park, both have plenty of programs going for children and their parents to take part in together, which can ease post-holiday tension this month. Today, a treasure hunt has visitors searching for gold in the galleries, then creating their own masterpieces in an open studio. Its too bad the room-o-Renaissance-devotional art no longer existsits gold-leaf-heavy atmosphere would be the perfect waiting spot for contemplative (penitent?) parents. Seattle Art Museum, 1300 First Ave., 654-3100. 10 a.m.-Noon. Free with museum admission.
