SIFF celebrated its annual Gay-La event at Pnk Ultra Lounge after showing the film aEœAugustaE at the Egyptian Theater. People danced to Gaga, ate meaty appetizers and the bartender blew fire.

Every last Saturday of the month, The Emerald City Soul Club presents Talcum, a dance night of rare and northern soul at Chop Suey! A medley of soul DJs rotate throughout the night, spinning old 45’s to a packed and snazzy dancefloor. Talcum powder covers the floor, allowing guests the fun of slipping and sliding around to great hits. The soul club also hosts second Tuesdays at Lo-Fi Lounge, which boasts two dancefloors!

The NW Women’s Show has attracted crowds for over two decades because of its ability to bring the women of the Northwest products and performances they’ll love. Case in point? The sizzling Fashion on Fire benefit show, which featured Washington’s hottest firemen strutting the catwalk in pretty much nothing but their drawers.

Sub-Pop favorites, Foals, popped across the pond to play for a packed house at the Showbox. Fans waiting outside even got to enjoy a rare thing in Seattle, some spare sunbeams on the skin.

Known for its often randy productions, The Can Can, located in the heart of Pike Place Market, featured Show Pony, a cabaret show filled with astonishing acrobatic talent starring the Can Can Castaways.

The Triple Door presented Through the Looking Glass: A Burlesque Alice in Wonderland which can only mean one thing: a damn good time. Mixing music styles like Indian, jazz and classical with dance styles like ballet and tap, the whimsical characters pulled onlookers into a spectacle of fun.

The stage, previously pitch black, was now lit up with a projection of crisscrossing, dim white lines, aimed from the foot of the stage so that the patterns played out on Danilova’s white cloak. Already, this was a spectacle, but when Danilova lowered the hood of her cloak and stepped up to the microphone, shit got real. Check out the rest here.

Yacht isn’t just a band. It’s a way of living and reaching out to others. And this past year, they did just that by going into the audience and engaging what they call the spectator during their performances.

It’s no surprise that the son of Fela Kuti, the creator of Afrobeat, would use his lyrics to motivate the masses for social and political change. Femi Kuti did not just blow up the stage, but he also blew the minds of everyone in the audience. Even if you’re a wallflower by nature, nothing could stop your body from these powerful beats.
To say that the FIRED UP! crowd was fired up is putting it lightly. The pitch and decibel of the screaming was so loud that we walked in to the Snoqualmie Casino ballroom, cringed, and walked out. To be fair, the hundreds – if not thousands – of ladies squealing with delight were all doing so on behalf of the Washington State Burn Foundation and the HOT firefighters trying out for the 2012 Hot Firefighter calendar fundraiser.
