Floater is a poor name choice, and thats probably the only concession the longtime Portland rockers’ fans will give you. See, for a band hardly known outside the Northwest that just self-released their eighth studio album-last years Wake-they have a pretty rabid fan base. Quick to jump on anyone who uses grunge to describe Floaters sound, these fans sell out venues in the likes of Grants Pass and Hood River, Oregon for a chance to see some, more accurately termed, art-rock. A bunch of upcoming dates are solo acoustic performances by lead singer Robert Wynia, so it certainly isnt just another tour through the Northwest and California. But Floater fans wouldnt mind one bit even if it was. BRYDEN MCGRATH
