Disarming those who groused about classical-music elitism, people lined up around the block to get into Benaroya Halls first Day of Music back in 1998 (has it really been 10 years?), the most exciting event of its inaugural weekend. This years anniversary celebration again offers free performances of all kinds of music all over the groundsalso spilling over to SAM and the Triple Door (see www.seattlesymphony.org for details). Among the highlights: Gerard Schwarz conducting Mahlers First with a community orchestra, the Seattle Seahawks Blue Thunder Drumline, bagpipes and mariachi, and the Boogilistics. Benaroya Hall, Third Ave. and Union St. Free. 10 a.m.-10 p.m. GAVIN BORCHERT
