Plenty of opportunities to donate to the hunger relief agency Northwest Harvest are cropping up this holiday season, and heres one that allows you to simultaneously scope out Capitol Hills newest art gallery. Vermillion opened its doors with bold work from controversially genius Portland advertising illustrator Jim Riswold, and continues to specialize in narrative, representational, and pop art. Tonights Gathering hosts a variety of artists including locals Rachel Maxi and Kellie Talbot (and a Canadian dude who makes chewing-gum portraits), with a portion of sales, along with any nonperishables you bring in, going to Northwest Harvest. Drop off some canned veggies and sneak a peek at art thats far from stale.
