Tad Doyle pretty much squelched any rumors of a TAD band reunion. I
consider this a good thing, since reunions have largely ruinous
effects on band legacies. But it’s also good news because he hasn’t
given up music entirely. His new band, Brothers of the Sonic Cloth, is
making its debut at El Corazon. Brothers consists of Doyle, drummer
Erik Akre, and bassist Peg Tully, who also happens to be Doyle’s
better half. Like you’d imagine, it’s some heavy shit, informed by
metal and ’70s hard rock. Doyle still employs his signature crushing
riffs and woodsman growls, but there are also some softer, spaced-out
moments. But don’t think Doyle has gone all easy-listening. For a dude
in his 40s, he rages harder than most half his age. Be forewarned: You
might walk away feeling ashamed that you did so little with your life.
